This article is Only relevent for the 1.7.x versions of AnywhereMap. You do not need to do this procedure for 1.8 and newer versions of AnywhereMap, and versions older than 1.7 will not work with these effected models of PDA.
Dell Axim X50, X50v, X51, and X51v PDAs running Windows Mobile 5 and some other brand PDA's running Windows Mobile 5 have special configurations to get them to connect to a bluetooth GPS. You will need to install a patch for the AnywhereMap software which can be found here: www.anywheremap.com/support/noenumreg.dlm You will need to install this patch after you have installed the AnywhereMap software. This patch will setup the software so that you can select any available com port in the gps settings. You will also have to manually create a short cut to the bluetooth GPS.
To configure the GPS click on the bluetooth icon in the bottom right corner of the main start screen of the PDA. In the mode tab make sure the Turn on Bluetooth box is checked. Then click on the devices tab and click new partnership. This will bring up a box with bluetooth devices listed. Tap on the gps listed there then click next. On the next screen put in the passkey for the gps then click next. Then check the serial port box on the next screen and click finish. After you have the partnership configured click on the com ports tab and click new outgoing. Then tap on the gps name for the partnership that you just created and click next. Then select a port it will most likely have com 7 and com 8 available. Either one will work. You should also ucheck the secure connection on this page and once you have chosen the com port click finish and remember the com port number you selected. Now it should show the gps name followed by the com port in perenthesis in the com ports tab of the bluetooth setup. Once you have this you can click ok, to close out of that window.
Next open AnywhereMap and click on file>settings>gps settings. At the top of the page set the com port to the one selected in the bluetooth setup above. If you do not see a full list of ports including the one you setup the bluetooth for above, then you will need to install the Patch listed at the beginning of this article. You shouldn't need to check any of the other boxes here, but it is ok if you have the autoconnect bt box and the disable bluetooth check box checked. Then click done and it should connect. You should then click file>exit to close out of AnywhereMap and save the settings. Anywheremap should then connect and get a gps signal when you open it in the future as long as you have the bluetooth turned on in the bluetooth setup on the pda and also have the bluetooth gps turned on.
