Before installing any software or updates, it is important to know what version of Pocket PC is installed on your PDA and determine if that version is compatible with the software you are installing. Complete the following to determine the version of Pocket PC installed on your device.
1) Click on Start | Settings
2) Click on the “System Tab”
3) Tap on the “About” icon
4) A new window should appear with Pocket PC version listed
Please note Anywhere Map™ version 1.8 requires Pocket PC version 4.0, Pocket PC 2003, or higher.
In many cases, PDAs can be upgraded to a newer version of the OS. These upgrades are available on purchase basis via the PDA manufacture or online vendor. At the time this article was written, these upgrades priced from $30 to $40.
