WX XM Activation Mode

Symptom: When AnywhereWx is started, the Activation screen appears and shows the system is not activated even thought it has been before.

Cause: The XM Radio needs a trigger to refresh the activation codes it saves internally. You can issue a "refresh" of the activation codes before you go which should prevent the system from entering this mode.

Remedy: Plug in your unit and remember to follow the start up / shut down procedure so it starts properly. Next, write down the 8-digit radio ID from the bottom of the radio. Please note, the radio ID is an alpha-numeric code. There are no letter o's, only number zeros. Open Internet Explorer and go to www.xmradio.com/refresh. Enter the radio ID into the box and press Enter. After a few seconds you should see "Congratulations", showing that the reactivation codes are being sent.

XM Refresh Update: In the past when a radio refresh was requested, XM would send refresh codes for a two hour period. In an effort to speed up activation times, XM will shorten this period to fifteen minutes. For this reason, we recommend having your unit setup and running with a good signal before requesting a refresh. This XM activation time change is effective starting on the 15th of March 2006.
