Situation: AnywhereWx software will not connect to a wired XM unit (wire from power plug uses silver barrel connector to attach to XM unit).

Possible Cause: iPAQ add-on keyboard accessory may grab the COM port and not release it, even though the keyboard is not being used. This has been the cause of GPS connection problems in the past.

Remedy: If possible, run the keyboard configuration software (such as the iPAQ Foldable Keyboard) and then uncheck the "Enable Keyboard" box. For the test unit, this remdied the problem and the XM unit connected.

In certain circumstances and with some of the older iPAQs, the keyboard software had to be removed from the iPAQ before the COM port would release.

BE ADVISED: If you soft reset the iPAQ, the keyboard software will default to "enabled" and you will have to disable it before you run AnywhereWx!
