You must first update the Pocket Plates XP program on your PC before you can pass these updates to your PDA via a cradle connection.
Please note, depending on the speed of your computer, your connection to the Internet, and the amount of plates which need to be updated, this process can take anywhere from 15 minutes to over three hours.
The following steps show the process to update the plates on your PDA:
On your PC:
1) Ensure you are connected to the Internet
2) Select Start | “Programs” or “All Programs” | Pocket Plates
3) Click on the Pocket Plates XP icon
4) Select File | Configure | Set Username / Password
5) Ensure your user name and password are properly listed and press the “OK” button
(This user name and password are the same as the ID and password used to login to the web page)
6) Now select Tools | Download Online Updates
7) Press the “Update All Plates” button
(A window will appear and a status bar will move across the screen as each plate is updated on the PC. After all the plates have been updated, a message window will appear stating, “Your plate files are now current on THIS computer. Do you want to update the Pocket PC now?”)
8) Ensure your PDA is cradled, MS ActiveSync is installed and synchronized, and Anywhere Map isn't running (Shutdown-Concern)
9) Press the “Yes” button
10) Now press the “Pocket PC” button to update the plates on your PDA
(If you have a computer with a memory card slot or reader, you can take the memory card out of your PDA and place press this card into the computer’s reader. Then press the “Memory Card” button to update the memory card through the computer. Updates through the computer are generally much faster than going through the PDA.)
