This weekend most of the US will change to daylight savings time by changing the clocks forward one hour. This is different than in years past because it normally takes place in April, not March. There is some concern by software manufacturers that some software applications that are time-dependent may not work properly because the computer’s operating system is already set to change time in April.
If you have a concern about daylight savings time affecting your system, please note:
· We expect no operational issues if you do NOT have a weather system. This is true for both PDA and tablet systems.
· If you DO use Anywhere Wx, then please try your system first before you change anything. We expect no problems.
· If your system is properly connected and operating but does not display weather, then simply change the time on your PDA to the correct time. If you have a tablet, do the same thing – simply change the time back to standard time.
· Optionally, to avoid any further issues, you can also set your time zone to either Indiana or Arizona. These states don’t change times at all. Then set the correct time.
· Be aware that when you sync your PDA to your desktop computer, the time may also synchronize. If your desktop’s time is not correct, then your PDA may reset to match it. Simply reset the time to be correct before you fly again.
· Microsoft has issued patches to correct the automatic daylight savings time changeover in computers running their operating systems. We recommend you carefully read the instructions on these patches before you install them. After all, changing the time ahead one hour can be a lot less troublesome than making major corrections to your computer.
· We expect any problems to completely resolve three weeks hence when the original daylight savings time date is passed.
